How To Webcast

Webcasting on the Meridix Webcast Network is a simple, two step process.  The two main steps are:

•  Add information such as event title and type into any web browser
•  Connect your audio or video using the Meridix Broadcast Producer software

1. Start by opening up any browser window, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. Then, login with your LiveID and Password at http://www.meridix.com/mbp/login.

2. Once inside the LiveID Manager, click on the "Start A Webcast" button.

3. Now you will see the webcast setup screeen. Here, simply follow the directions and select the type of event, team names, and answer other simple questions. Then click on the "START WEBCAST" button on the bottom of this screen.

4. You'll then be taken to the real-time scores/text/data input screen.  On this screen, to change something such as a score, simply click on elements and they will be surrounded with a green box.  Change the data in the box and then click off of the box in the white space surrounding the page. When you click off of an item, it is automatically submitted to the network. No need to use complicated forms and buttons!

5. Now, be sure to connect and turn on any microphones/cameras or other equipment you'll be using. Then, open up the Meridix Broadcast Producer software.

6. The MBP will ask for your LiveID and password. Once authenticated, select "Start or Resume Live Webcast".

7. In Step 1, you'll select the event you'll be webcasting from the dropdown. In Step 2, select the bitrates and devices you'll be using. In Step 3, you can indicate whether you want to archive the webcasts or not. A detailed explanation is given in each screen.

8. After Step 3 (after clicking "Start Webcast Now") you will then be in the actual webcast screen. Please be patient at this point, as it may take up to 1 minute for your software to fully synchronize with the network. When everything is ready to go, you'll see "Connected" in the green status indicator. This means that your software has fully connected, but is not yet streaming.

9. Once you're ready to begin streaming live, click on the "Start" button in the upper right corner of the screen. After a few moments, the green status indicator should switch from "Connected" to "Broadcasting". Congratulations - you're on live!

10. When you're done, simply hit the "Stop" button. If you want to resume, you can always hit "Start" again. However, if you're completely DONE with your event, simply click on the red X in the upper right corner to completely close out the session. Also, remember to click on the "Archive" button within the browser window to fully signal you're finished.

- In the browser when you first start, we recommend immediately updating the venue, players, the timeouts remaining, perhaps set the period to "Pregame", etc.  If you are not updating all information on a play-by-play manner, simply put in 0's or a general statement such as "Thank you for joining us", whatever may be appropriate.

- If you ever need to leave the event without wanting to end it (for example, you lose your internet connection), you can do so by selecting the "Come Back Later" button at the bottom of the LiveID Manager.  This will allow you to resume the event later - do so by selecting your broadcast from the first screen you see when you click the "Start A Broadcast" link.

- When you are finished with the game, make sure all of the event information is filled in and the period field is set to "Final".  This tells your users that the event has finished.  Now to end the event, simply select the "Archive Event XXXX" button from the bottom of the LiveID Manager screen and confirm that this is the case.
